Deep Dwellers

Deep Dwellers - Marianas Trench
Check out some of the creatures that live at the deepest part of our planet. These images were taken on one of the most recent dives into the trench (2008). There has been only 3 dives down (two unmanned and one manned), which makes these images a very rare sight. The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the world's oceans, and the lowest elevation of the surface of the Earth's crust. It is currently estimated to be up to 10,971 m (35,994 ft) deep. It is located in the western Pacific Ocean, to the east of the Mariana Islands.
